DVD special features

This is some bonus footage from the morning after our Halloween hijinx. I had to get up at 8 am after some serious whiskey and help a co-worker move. This is the merry moving crew, me, Matt and my sister. P.S. The night before, Matt was dressed as a Catholic schoolgirl (somebody's gotta do it,) with a special pair of underwear that said Teacher's Pet. He wondered why he didn't make out with anyone.

the house, it is full

I was just responding to comments on this old post, when I remembered something that happened while we were in Wisco.

At my friend Craig's wedding, we met a couple of spunky girls from Minneapolis. When Rebecca and I introduced ourselves, they looked at each other and started giggling. Why? Because the girlfriend of Uncle Jesse on Full House was named Rebecca. Ya, a GD sitcom couple.

This bothers me, mostly because I want to be Uncle Jesse on Dukes of Hazzard, not Full House. Ah well, I guess we don't choose the cards we're dealt. John Stamos it is.

Happy Halloween!

I know I said no more photo posts but c'mon- it's friggin' Halloween, people!

In this photo, Briana (Flava Flav) displays one of his 'hos.' Just kidding, Beth (lady) is a beautiful and chaste young woman! side note- I had to talk my sister out of going in blackface, she's still learning about the world.

This is a pretty fun picture of Kyle (ape) taking Beth against her will. The other pictures, where he gored her and ate her flesh, are not quite as fun.

Here is Julio (word jumble,) blinking bashfully at the paparazzi. His word jumble has the theme of northern woodland creatures (otters, moose, etc.) side note- Julio accidentally spelled urine on his jumble. In a bizarre coincidence, I let Julio borrow my winter jacket that night. And oops- the jacket had been peed on by a cat! Sorry friend, very sorry.

Jesse (eighties girl) says, "This guy!"

Jon (Unknown Comic) sits with his friends on the couch. Alex claimed he was supposed to be a Dartmouth student but I have a hunch he forgot to dress up! I'm such a cynic. Darcy, on the left, got a call from his agent, so couldn't strike a pose in his ballerina costume.

Joanna Fitzgerald (flapper) vamps it up in the bathroom.

Alli (Jeffrey Sebelia from Project Runway) teaches us all a few things about macho fashion design.

I'm going to use this photo as my main profile pic for this website. What a handsome woman!

tiptoe

hi everybody. The next step is for me to respond to all your comments. Tonight, I promise. And just so you know, my hiatus has not been based on some personal trauma or something. Life has been grand. Now I'm back, baby.

Let's not fight.

Back on the Bloghorse*

Okay, maybe there's a couple of people left who still have faith that this blog will get back on track. To you, I say, "Hat's off!" (Sitting here in my room, I'm actually going to take my WE hat off.)

Let me tell you a little story. Baby Steps.

Last Friday, I was heading to see a bizarre epic wrestling battle with larger-than-life Japanese monsters. At about 7:00, Jon and I were walking near Fenway Park, on our way to my favorite shite venue. I was smoking a cigarette because I was, no one give me trouble. Heh.

Anyway, as Jon and I crossed Beacon Street, some beefhead asked to bum a light. I handed him my plain red lighter, which had had previously been Rebecca's. It had been an unplanned but sweet little gift.

As Thickneckio Shortpants tried unsuccessfully to light up, the stoplight turned green and cars came barrelling towards us. I started to jog towards the nearby sidewalk, but Dimmy kept standing there flicking the lighter. I said, "C'mon dude let's get out of the way!" He looked at me blankly for a minute, then swaggered away to the wrong side of the street. With the lighter.

At this point I said loudly, "Oh so I see you're a prick." Very calmly, my new friend pulled his arm back and whipped the lighter into traffic. Mea culpa, Miss Rebecca.

When I told Jon what happened, he suggested we have fisticuffs with the guy. I said no way Jose. I know a real man always defends the honor of his lady's broken lighter. But guys, there were giant wrestling monsters to be seen!

Kaiju was fun and some of the costumes were awesome, but it wasn't as cool as it could've been. Julio was disappointed there were no huge robots. I guess I made some "wild promises." Let me come clean- I was so caught up in my unrealistic childlike anticipation that I started thinking every super-awesome thing in the world would be in the show.

Wide-eyed Jesse: There's gonna be robots and tanks and unicorns and gum and delicious pastries!
Sorry Julio. I owe you a Danish.

*Not to be confused with this mythic creature, which is now deader than dead.

finale!

Two things recently reminded me that I need to finish the roommate search (Triscuitsniper) story.
1) Joanna said she came into the kitchen Wednesday night to find Jon in the dark with a box of Triscuits.
2) Ms. B referred to our new French cat as a mountain lion.

I must tell you about all this, I must! Just not right this second...

(Blogger's block? no, not really. sometimes blogging just seems less important than other things. I will respond to all your comments before six, though.)

Rancho Roundup

Triple J (Jon, Joanna, Jesse) Ranch hosted a well-attended birthday explosion this weekend. It's possible the author of this blog got way too tippled but please don't tell his mother. All told, it was a grande blasto. We stayed up laughing, dancing and playing basketball until almost five and everyone was well-behaved, beautiful and generous.*

True, I passed out in a chair in a small room with three people and two cats, I said uncouth things to my friends and the next day had enough raw hangover pain to fuel the School of the Americas for decades. Nonetheless, it was everything I was looking for in a birthday.

As I said, this is the last photo post before I get back to writing. And responding to your comments! (photo creds to Joanna and Julio)

* Thanks Beth for the cake and the book, Carina for the dyslexic Triple J branded pie, Jillson for the Elbow/Kills CDs, Chris for the Wild Turkey, Bejustithany for the Amazon gift certificate, Jenny for the painting, Alli for the enormous card, Erin for the Vice DVD, Perog for the unmentionable, Jon for the punk history book, Des and Cailin for the industrial corkscrew and wine, April and Ernie for the kick-ass painting and fireworks, Tom and Joel for the gallon of bourbon, Briana for the wine rack, Rianna for the Chivas and Joanna for all the food and party assistance.

Let them eat

I have some pictures from the Jon and Jesse birthday bash this weekend. After that, confetti will go back to being a writing blog. Too many pictures lately.

Supergracias

To my west coast co-workers who Fed-Exed a 12-pack of Budweiser for my birthday. It looked real nice on my desk.

worth a thousand

I got back late last night. The trip was too beautiful for words. For now, please allow this photo montage to suffice. For soundtrack, I'm thinking 'Aeroplane Over the Sea' by Neutral Milk Hotel.

Thin

Hi everybody. I've been stretched a little thin lately and as always, it's the blog that suffers. It doesn't seem fair to take it out on the little guy, but what can you do? I've been flat-out insanely busy, prepping for tomorrow's long-anticipated rendezvous with sweet Rebecca (see stock photo.)

I've had plenty of things to tell you about, including:
-How both cats have taken to smiling broadly, looking me in the eye, then letting fly with the urine. I'm fingering the rock-filled burlap sack (Just kidding marissa, sue and other crazy cat people.)
-I've seen 4 advanced free movie premieres in the past three weeks (Borat, Shortbus, Jesus Camp and The Queen.) I'm starting to feel fancy and spoiled.
-I got a tailored Armani suit for $48! Please to reference fancy and spoiled.
-I'm back on the scavenge wagon and it feels so good. Three-foot stuffed gorilla, remote control monster truck, marshmallow gun, Paris Hilton's House of Wax and much more. Oh yeah, crutches.
-I still haven't finished the new roommate story. Don't be angry.
-I also want to tell you about this guy, the craziest candidate for Massachusetts governor since Mormon Mitt:

Ah but where does the time go? I'll be taking lots of pictures and collecting lots of stories for your viewing pleasure. Glorious Wisconsin! Wedding! Rebecca! Bye!

Finally

I found a website that uses SCIENCE to match your face with celebrity lookalikes. Longtime readers will recognize this as a longtime obsession of mine. Let's look at the results.

The Mackademics

My friend James came to town from New York and we tore it up, Boston-style. I laughed so hard it hurt. I wanted to post a bunch of photos from the weekend but the memory card is wonky on my camera. I'll try to get some more later. James is the guy in glasses.
