9) tears of a clown

Okay, I liked Punch-Drunk Love as much as the next guy. And like everyone else, I respected the fact that Adam Sandler would act in an offbeat low-budget indie flick. Nonetheless, he played roughly the same likable loser we've seen in every Hollywood blockbuster, from Little Nicky to Happy Gilmore.

That's why I'm skeptical of Reign Over Me, where he plays a grieving man who lost his whole family in 9/11. All the reviews are excellent, Sandler's acting is supposed to be top-shelf, I just can't see taking him seriously enough to suspend my disbelief. I feel like I'm going to spend the movie waiting for him to do a funny dance or for Don Cheadle to kick him in the nuts. Have any of you seen it? Thoughts?

I'll find out soon enough, Netflix delivers it tomorrow.

I didn't love this movie, honestly. Like you, I read the reviews and thought it would be pretty moving. It's just lame, the only thing that holds it up is Sandler and that Black guy. It's a buddy film about 9/11's aftermath...Rent Tomb Raider, same story, pre-9/11.

Little Nicky and Happy Gilmore are two different movies?

Don Cheadle may redeem the film. Has he ever done anything vaguely hackish?
