Kitties are cute
Friday I made a crazy impulse purchase on the Internets. I reluctantly told Rebecca (cat-hater) about my big buy on the phone yesterday and I could hear the sharp intake of breath. I think her reaction would have been similar if I told her I got an STD or a pair of studio tickets for The King of Queens.
Maybe I shouldn't have phrased it, "I just bought a 3-hour cat DVD!" Immediately she imagined me sitting in the dark, watching hours of frisky kittens playing with string and licking each other's noses. I'd be oohing and aahing and saying things like "Jon, you've gotta see this- kitty got all tangled up!" How incredibly depressing.
No, I've still got a bit of dignity in me. This video is actually a specially formulated piece of magic that is supposed to entrance your cats with footage of squirrels, gerbils and laser pointers. They suckered me in by saying that cats get bored and depressed when you go to work. Now I'll put on the DVD and the cats will sit like little zombies in front of the TV screen. Just like children!

My parents bought a video like that for their cats and I borrowed it when we got our. It was so insanely cute watching our two little tiny kittens (at the time) swatting at the TV. You should put it on when you're at home sometime, it's fabulous entertainment. :) And if you don't have one already, a laser pointer is probably the best investment you can make cat-toy-wise. :)
