Nicole and I got another kitten today. No, I do not intend to become a loonie who gets 35 cats and starts eating out of a food dish and hissing at strangers. The truth is, my new kitten demanded more attention than I have to give. Plus special kitten scientists said they grow up maladjusted if they don't have playmates. The MSPCA won't even give away less than two kittens at a time any more. So we went playmate shopping. And took home a lemon.
There is no question about the name of the second cat. It is Grayskull.
Mister Lady welcomed Grayskull with open paws, tried to give her a tour of the estate, showed that her butt was okay for the sniffing- you know, everything a good host should do? Wel Grayskull just hissed and growled and hid under the couch. She will not leave her self-made fortress, so now the couch is called Castle Grayskull. And if Mister Lady visits the Castle, Grayskull tries to scratch her eyes out.
I'm wondering if it's class warfare. Mister Lady is the child of feral cats in East Boston, whereas the new kitten comes from a mollycoddling family in the well-to-do suburb of Winchester. Grayskull seemed fine with the ten docile fat cats in her old house, but I guess she's too good for a rough-and-tumble little scrapper from the inner city.
I tell you what, you uppity hissing snob- you have until Tuesday to learn something about peace, love and understanding. Otherwise I'm shipping you back from whence you came. Defective kitten.

Poor kitten. It's really dusty under there. That's why she's upset.
Grayskull is a great name for a cat! And the hissing is normal, they just need to get to know each other a little bit. Kitties don't like new kitties/other animals. All will be well, just give them some time. You should see my cats when we bring them to the vet- if they even SEE another cat, they get all scared, their tails swell to 12 times their usual size, and they even get scared of each other. It's really annoying actually- we have to bring them to the vet separately now because we used to have to borrow the vet's carrier to bring them home or they'd fight each other! :D
i agree with marissa.
once upon a time santa brought a little puppy to my family. the mistress dog of the house was non-plussed, to say the least. the tensions reached a crescendo when big dog bit little dog's eye. little dog was taken to the vet, stitched up, and learned a valuable lesson (respect your elders, size matters, bigger is better etc.) now one year later big & little are often spotted cuddling in the same dog nest. the end.
c'mon, Grayskull, let love in.
Jesse, you crack me up.
