Savante

I was just thinking about the musicians I liked before I turned 10 and I'm proud to say, there's no cause for shame. In fact, I think I've become less cool over the years (So I like the Counting Crows. You wanna fight?)
Pre-10 faves:
Bruce Springsteen (Born in the USA)
Michael Jackson (Thriller)
Duran Duran (Blame it on Rio)
Tears for Fears (popular songs)
David Bowie (Greatest Hits?)

There's a blissful summertime picture of myself at age 7 in tighty whities with my eyes closed, looking like Princess Leia with huge-ass seventies headphones. My dad tells me I was listening to Born in the USA. If I ever find this photo, you'll see it here first.

My top three when I was little were Huey Lewis and the News (Sports), Cyndi Lauper (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and True Colors), and Michael Jackson (Thriller). And Huey Lewis was cool then so don't be hatin.

When I was a young bar slut, I saw Huey in an overcrowded, sweltering Wisconsin bar. I was in the front row and he bent down and sang the refrain from "I Want a New Drug" to me and sweated all over my face. It was romantic as hell.
