My addictions

I'm sure you have albums you've listened to a billion times in a row because you can't seem to stop. The ones you go back to and replay over and over and over until your ears are worn and withered and you can't stand it anymore and you put on CarTalk or a book on tape. And the really awesome albums are worth going back to after you've taken a little time apart.
Here's a short list of albums that have done this to me. By no means am I trying to assert my opinions hold any water. Nevertheless, if you've never heard these incredible works, isn't it about time?

The Old 97s- Too Far to Care

The Postal Service- Give Up

Tom Waits- Raindogs

Bright Eyes- Fever and Mirrors

Portishead- Dummy

Manu Chao- Clandestino

Ween- The Mollusk

Cowboy Junkies- Lay it Down

What're yours?

Don't be shy about your musical tastes, anonmyouses. Maybe this'll help- I almost put the first Counting Crows album on my list, no lie. That's how lame I am. Your taste is fine.
Also, what does that math equation about the 90's mean? Is it some sort of dirty version of an e-smiley? look at it: <3

That's a heart on its side.

Coming up with a mere handful of favorite albums is going to be a bit of an undertaking, so I'll get back to you.

Nirvana: Unplugged in New York
Vs.- pearl jam
Purple Rain - Prince (Really, any Prince from the early 80's until that unprounceable album I enjoy quite a bit)
Ok Computer- Radiohead

and for nolstalgic (sp) purposes only: I Get Wet: Andrew W.K.

I've always wanted to like Elvis C. Lord knows I've tried. Same with Modest Mouse, Radiohead and the Flaming Lips. Sorry world, I'm on my own trip.

Out of the others, I liked Blood Sugar Sex, Live Through This, Nothing's Shocking (though I prefer Ritual De,) Nirvana Unplugged and Exile in Guyville.

In Utero, Badmotorfinger and Pearl Jam's Ten actually came pretty close to making this list.

Two more addictions I'd like to add- Violent Femmes, self-titled and Operation Ivy's Energy.

JESSE! I didn't know you listened to Bright Eyes -- they are one of my most favorite groups.
I listened to them all the time in the office -- never spoke of it, because I never knew anyone else in Portage had even heard of their music.
High five.

K.Derk and Jesse - Have either of you ever listened to Desparecidos? Conor Oberst and other musicians from the Saddle Creek Stable released an album in 2002 saying that suburban sprawl is bad. However, I liked what I heard of the album, and I can't get into Bright Eyes at all. Since you two like him/them, my logic tells me that you would adore their music.

hello ms. dacey. I truly love Arrested Development and the Beatles are such a great little undiscovered talent. I only know a few songs by the other two but those songs are pretty good. Have you heard Weezer's My Veloria?

(Not to toot my own horn but I've made lovely Nicole 19 mix CDs. They're pretty good but the first 5 or 6 were the obvious best.)

Derk-san (avoiding Google) -ROCK

Totally Tori- I think your logic needs a little tweaking. I love Bright Eyes, don't like Desaparicidos. Doesn't that make sense in a way?

also k and t, sorry, talk to you both asap.

Jesse - Now that you say it, I remember us having a conversation to that effect (you disliking Modest Mouse and Desparacidos, me disliking the angst of Bright Eyes) one afternoon at work.

As you may recall, my logical thinking skills aren't great.

The rest of you - I forgot to post about my ardor for Faith No More's album Angel Dust. I adore it. Perhaps you do too.

Tori you're great.

why be anonymous?

Herr Graham- I need to hear more jesus and mary chain, guided by voices, new pornographers and afghan whigs. I know only one or two songs by each. And yeah, hearing Sour Times always makes me feel like my life is cooler than it really is.
