Okay, I just read an article about Lindsay Lohan on CNN.com. Typically I could give a hoot about what the celebs are up to, but this article was a kick. Their whole focus was on her going to AA, with faint gloating undertones, like "See, we told you she had a problem!" But to me what is more interesting is the number of times she contradicts herself or sounds foolish in just this one little story.
I guess what I don't understand is, even after we tear these people down and reveal them for the vapid media whores they really are, why are they still idolized? Yes, we make fun of the Jessicas and Parises and Britneys, but we also salivate eagerly while watching their every meaningless move. Am I to come to the obvious conclusion that dumb is the new cool?

"dumb is the new cool"...hasn't that always been the way? the hot stupid girls in school were pretty much always deemed cooler than the chess club chicks with glasses...
mmmm, 'chess club chicks'..i smell a teen movie!!
That was a total Carrie Bradshaw comment. Jesse, do you write a sex/relationship column for an edgy Boston newspaper and have a yen for Manolo Blahiks? OK, sorry, I couldn't resist.
maybe it's because i'm a fellow redhead, but i think ms. lohan is a smart woman who has made foolish choices. she was really good in "mean girls" and i hope she gets her shit together so she won't be associated with the "herbie: the love bug" remake ever again.
side note: get "mean girls" from netflix. that movie is v. good and it won't emasculate you. i promise.
in my high school, it was cool to have girl parts and be smart. 70 percent of the popular girls had GPA's close to 5.0. the rest graduated with honors. i was lucky to squeak by with a 3.0. i was seen as a dumb one. i still have a complex.
