Whew
When Italy was playing Germany earlier this week, one of the announcers was talking about how this was the first time since WWII that Germans have felt comfortable expressing any unified nationalist pride. The camera then flashed on legions of fans waving the German flag around.
So did anyone else breathe a collective sigh of relief when Italy won? I mean, the last thing we need is another German march towards global domination. Seriously, what a hassle.

as someone who has seen probably hundreds of stark-naked Germans -- both genders, and no, the men are not circumcised, which caused my American friend great shock and dismay -- I can agree we don't want to goosestep down that road again.
