Inconvenient, True

Okay so I've lost my first born son. Over Al Gore.

Earlier in the summer, my roommate Josh hung out with Eddie Vedder and Theo Epstein. By chance. You may also remember he chilled with the cowboy from the Village People soon after moving in. Also by chance. How can one person get so many breaks?

So in a fit of bitterness after hearing about his mind-blowing Ved-stein evening, I said, "The sad thing is, there's nowhere to go but down." Josh got thoughtful for a second, then said, "I'd like to meet Al Gore." I immediately got suspicious.

"That doesn't seem possible. Why did you pick Al Gore? Do you know something you aren't telling me?"

He swore up and down that he didn't know anything, but that he likes a challenge.

Flash forward to this Tuesday, when Al was giving a reading at the Harvard Bookstore. And what's that? Oh, Josh's friend happens to own the bookstore? Of course.

So yeah, he met him. I'm sure that he and Al then got invited to an exclusive after-party made up exclusively of Nova Scotian lady sailors who hadn't seen men in months and who also happened to be trained masseuses (masseux?) This dude's life is a gilded truffle. Hopefully raising my first-born son will be a bit of a rude awakening; I'm thinking Damien thoughts.

Two more things:
1)Ms. B suggested that meeting Al Gore may not actually be an upgrade over Eddie Vedder and Theo Epstein.
2)Josh swears up and down that he had no idea Al Gore was coming to town when he made the bet. What do you guys think?
